DR. ANNTWANIQUE EDWARDS

CHIEF OF EQUITY, INCLUSION, AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT - ALACHUA COUNTY, FL

Dr. Anntwanique Edwards was selected as the Chief of Equity, Inclusion, and Community
Engagement in 2021. She has worked with the School Board of Alachua County for more than two 
decades. She has served as a teacher’s aide, substitute teacher, middle and high school counselor, 
and school-based administrator.

She has served as a teacher’s aide, substitute teacher, middle and high school counselor, and school-based administrator. A native of Connecticut, Dr. Edwards moved to Gainesville after graduating high school and has attained several degrees from the University of Florida; Associate of Arts, Bachelors in Sociology, Masters and Specialist in Counselor Education and Mental Health Counseling, second Masters in Educational Leadership, and PhD in Educational Leadership. Most recently, she earned a certificate in Equitable Community Change from Cornell University. Dr. Edwards is a member of civic and community organizations where her role, leadership, and passion for helping youth and young adults remains evident. She believes that education is the door to opportunities and all students should have exposure to the best learning experiences.

Dr. Wanda Cook-Robinson, an instructional architect with over thirty years of experience, has dedicated her career to creating educational environments that empower all children to reach their full potential.

From her beginnings as a special education teacher to her current role as the Superintendent of Oakland Schools, she has earned nationwide respect for her commitment to student excellence and mentorship.

Dr. Cook-Robinson holds a Ph.D. in Instructional Technology, an Ed.S. in Educational Leadership, a Master’s Degree in Curriculum Development and Supervision, and a Bachelor of Arts in Special Education, exemplifying her academic prowess and commitment to educational excellence.

People, passion, performance, and process drive Dr. Sarah Calveric’s work as Superintendent of
Caroline County Public Schools. 

This “4P” philosophy has undergirded Dr. Calveric’s 27-years of educational experience as a special and regular educator, building administrator, Director of Human Resources, Assistant Superintendent of Instruction, associate adjunct professor (University of Richmond), and Division Superintendent. Serving on a vast number of local and regional boards and statewide organizations (YMCA, GoVA, Workforce Now, Foundation First, VASCD, WELV, VASS), Dr. Calveric has been described as, “The ‘Michael Jordan’ of educational leadership: insatiable ambition, steely determination, boundless belief in team, unwavering commitment to excellence, and a work ethic that is second to none!” A graduate of SUNY Geneseo (Bachelors) and Virginia Commonwealth University (Masters/Ph.D.), Dr. Calveric’s persistent commitment to access and opportunity for all students, staff, and the community resulted in her being named Virginia’s 2023 Region III Superintendent of the Year.

Jonathan Tobar is a distinguished leader in education, with extensive experience spanning PreK-16. Currently serving as the Assistant Superintendent for Secondary Learning at Livingston ESA, Jonathan brings a wealth of knowledge and passion to his role.
Originally from Quito, Ecuador, he holds an M.A. in K-12 Educational Administration from Michigan State University, an M.A. in TESOL from Eastern Michigan University, and a B.A. in Secondary Education and International Business from Cornerstone University. Throughout his career, Jonathan has held various influential positions, including Director of Instructional Services, CTE Director, High School Principal, Regional Evaluation Specialist, and educator in Spanish, ESL, and Drama at both the middle and high school levels. Additionally, he has served as an adjunct professor of Spanish at Siena Heights University and Adrian College. When not immersed in his work, Jonathan enjoys exploring the world (having visited 37 countries), salsa dancing, supporting the arts, playing soccer, indulging in good food, and, above all, cherishing time with his family.

HOPE SQUAD NATIONAL EDUCATIONAL ADVISORY BOARD

Tobin Novasio has served as a Superintendent in Montana schools for 15 years. He is the Montana Rural Education Association (MREA) Vice-President and represents Montana on the AASA Executive Committee and on the AASA American Rescue Plan Committee.
Mr. Novasio also sits on the Hope Squad National Educational Advisory Board; sharing mental health support systems for students and families with peers statewide and nationally. Recognized with multiple statewide administrative awards, Mr. Novasio also serves on the Montana Early Childhood Advisory Council. Mr. Novasio is supported in his endeavors by his wife Tandi and their children Kane, Kyson and Addi.

Program Director, South Sanpete School District

Arlene Anderson is a seasoned educator with over 39 years of experience in teaching, administration, and professional development. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Elementary and Early Childhood Education from Brigham Young University and her Master’s Degree in Education Administration from Grand Canyon University.

Arlene’s diverse career spans the public school systems of Hawaii, Texas, and Utah, where she has worked as a classroom teacher, college instructor, and in various administrative roles.

Her extensive expertise includes multicultural relations, training and development, team building, productivity enhancement, Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) programs, GEAR UP initiatives, and fostering relationships built on trust. Arlene is passionate about empowering educators and students alike, having dedicated her career to helping others grow and succeed.

Beyond her professional achievements, Arlene humbly credits her greatest education to six decades of daily living, where she has continually learned from life’s experiences.

I am originally from Clovis, California and received my B.A. in Criminal Justice Administration from
Sonoma State University in 1987. I then moved to the great state of Montana in 1988 and graduated
from the University of Montana with my secondary education degree in history and sociology in 1992.
I subsequently received my master’s degree in Educational Leadership, K-12 in 2003 from the University of Montana. Finally, I was awarded my superintendent’s endorsement from Montana State University in 2016.

Dr. Tricia Mooney has served as the superintendent of Hermiston School District since 2017, the largest school district in Eastern Oregon. She has extensive experience in education as an assistant superintendent, director of human resources, adjunct professor, principal of an elementary school, and principal of a middle school.

She has extensive experience in education as an assistant superintendent, director of human resources, adjunct professor, principal of an elementary school, and principal of a middle school, as well as a teacher of Title I and sixth grade. During her 29 years in education, she has devoted herself to teaching, and learning, and is a relentless advocate for achievement for all students. The district offers various educational opportunities for students from kindergarten through grade twelve, from foundational learning skills to comprehensive vocational programs to an extensive array of postsecondary college credit-bearing programs. In a nationally recognized community that embraces its diversity, the district serves some 28,000 residents, where one-third of the population is Hispanic. Student success has driven Superintendent Mooney’s commitment to provide multiple pathways for students after graduation.

ELEMENTARY PRINCIPAL BALTIC SCHOOL DISTRICT

Carrie Klein is in her fifth school year with the Baltic School District, serving as the elementary principal. Nearly five years ago, she and her family relocated to South Dakota from eastern Iowa, where she had served various educational communities.

This school year marks Carrie’s 17th year in education and her 10th year in administration. Her prior experience in Iowa school districts includes roles as a middle school special education teacher, new teacher induction coach, associate middle school administrator, and regional administrator through the local Area Education Agency. In addition to her work with students and staff, Carrie is dedicated to supporting families and communities in the area of mental health. In recent years, she has prioritized a proactive approach to addressing the mental health and well-being of students and their families, striving to strengthen partnerships with families and build stronger connections between students’ home and school lives. Outside of her professional life, Carrie enjoys spending time with her husband and two children, actively supporting them in their various activities.

ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT AT THE WILSON SCHOOL DISTRICT

Dr. Andrew Hoffert is an experienced educational leader with over 20 years of work in various roles within Pennsylvania school districts. Currently serving as Assistant Superintendent at the Wilson School District.

Currently serving as Assistant Superintendent at the Wilson School District since November 2022, he previously held the position of Director of Student Supports and Services for three years. Before joining Wilson, he worked at Downingtown Area School District for over nine years, where he served in the role of Supervisor of Special Education and then Principal. Dr. Hoffert holds an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from Drexel University and has taught as an adjunct professor at both Alvernia University and Cabrini College.

SUPERINTENDENT OF CUTTER MORNING STAR SCHOOL DISTRICT IN GARLAND COUNTY

Dr. Nancy Anderson currently serves as the Superintendent of Cutter Morning Star School District in Garland County. A Lake Hamilton High School Graduate, Dr. Anderson continued her education at National Park College.

She also earned her BSE and MSE from Henderson State University, an education specialist from Harding University and her Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas. She started her career in education teaching at Lakeside School District. Dr. Anderson serves or has served on many educational and leadership boards and committees, including the Greater Hot Springs Chamber of Commerce, Education Credit Union, AAESP, ERZ Advisory Board, Cotillion Board, NRA National School Shield Security Committee and Dawson Educational Co- op. She has also served as an ADE trainer of trainer for initiatives such as TESS and UBD. Anderson quotes education reformer John Dewey “Education is not preparation for life, but is life” to live accordingly. She has served as mentors for those entering the profession at all levels from teachers to superintendents.
